Throughout my life, I’ve gone back and forth on spectator sports…I like baseball (Cleveland Indians or whomever is beating the Braves), I hate basketball (college and professional, unless a team from outside of North Carolina makes it to the Final Four), and I seldom make an effort to keep up on Football. With one Exception. Division 1-AA College Football, and only one game in particular. I’m talking about Appalachian State University vs. Western Carolina University, aka. The Battle for the Old Mountain Jug!
Two unknown teams, with mostly unknown players, square off every year in a rivalry every bit as real and raw as FSU vs. UF.
The Western Carolina Catamounts (2-7) are set to host the defending Conference Champion Appalachian State Mountaineers (9-1) this Saturday at 4PM at Whitmire Stadium in Cullowhee, North Carolina. If anyone knows where this game is being televised- if at all- please tell me! I’ll be wearing my black and gold all day, regardless. GO MOUNTIES!!
